Mythological Narrative in CG Modeling: Archangel Michael vs. Satan

EnvironmentShot1.0160

This thesis will focus on recreating baroque visual aesthetics with a 3D model portraying a biblical scene. This thesis will study examples and techniques from Baroque artists. The use of baroque aesthetics helps push the mythological narrative of a model through dynamic posing, dramatic intent, and lighting. The narrative will show the prelude of Satan’s downfall from Heaven by Michael. Multiple adaptations will be used to display the artist's interpretation of the story. It will include symbolism and iconography that foreshadow future events or conflicts that Satan will go through after his downfall. The narrative will also be explored through the character's personalities and being able to translate them into the scene.

Programs used were Autodesk Maya, Zbrush,Adobe Creative Cloud, Marvelous Designer, Marmoset Toolbag, and Unreal Engine 5.
